Being my first trip to Glacier, I pretty much stopped at every single overlook, pull out, parking lot, and trail head I came to. When I stumbled onto this scene later one afternoon I immediately thought it would make for a really nice vertical crop. This spot, right off of Going-to-the-Sun Rd., is best photographed when the whole area is in the shade and you can use a slightly slower shutter speed to help create texture. The use of a "blue and gold" polarizing filter helped to bring out the beautiful color of the water. Glacier is known for it's amazing blue and emerald lakes and streams, the color of which are attributed to the sediments in the glacial runoff that feeds most of it's waters.
